"Spring-ish" by Sprouting Seeds Studio

Happy Memorial Day, everyone!  Hope you are having a lovely day with friends and family, enjoying the beginning of the summer while remembering those who have gone before.

I'm putting up bunting and flags outside the house, but I haven't gotten together any patriotic goodies for the blog yet.  I do have something new, though.  Sprouting Seeds Studio just released "Spring-ish" at ScrapDelicious!  You can buy the papers or elements separately, or you can save money by buying them together in a bundle.  I just love this kit.  The papers are perfect and the elements are adorable.  I especially love the little crocheted flowers and the doodled birds and butterflies.  I have some more pictures I want to scrap with this big bundle, but I just have this LO so far.

We were actually on our way to a wedding when we decided to stop and just walk on the beach quickly in Cocoa Beach, Florida.  Thus the goofy dressed-up-on-the-beach pictures.  It was a beautiful day, and we even saw "I Dream of Jeannie" Lane!

Jump over to ScrapDelicious to pick up this terrific, springy kit, then come back here for your QP!  :)

And here's a Quickpage for you.  Click image to download from 4shared.  PU/S4H/S4O.

Happy Scrapping!  :)

Homeschool Giveaway?

Well, I had planned to pick a random commenter to receive a free "Wonders of the World: Ancient Timeline" App today, but although there have been plenty of hits on the post, not one person has commented that they would like the App.  Either it's not a very popular App, or not many of my readers have iPods, iPhones, or iPads.  Well, better luck next time.  I'll try to find something that will be more useful to more readers!  :)

Homeschool Giveaway

I have never tried a blog giveaway before, so let's try one, shall we?  Knowledge Quest has a wonderful collection of maps, timelines, and other historical items to complement any school curriculum.  One of my favorite things from them is the Wonders of Old hardcover, blank timeline book.  My kids and I are filling that up and making kind of a scrapbooked timeline of our studies.  So I was ecstatic when they designed their first iPhone/iPod/iPad App, the Wonders of Old: Ancient Timeline.

This interactive timeline is packed with information and bright pictures, for $4.99 in the iTunes Store.  Also available are the Map Trek: Ancient World and the next timeline in the series, Wonders of Old:  Medieval Timeline.  I love the idea of being able to use Apps on my iPhone and my son's iPod Touch as educational supplements.  These Apps are fun for the kids, and the kids are learning how to use technology in their daily lives.  We have incorporated quite a lot of technology and computer-based-education into our homeschool in the last year or so.

I was not only impressed by the App itself, but I was extremely impressed with the excellent customer service.  I had some problems with my first download (all corrected now), and when I emailed the developer about them, he sent me two promo codes, so that I could download another copy for myself and share one with someone else.  So I am going to share that with you.  Whether you are a home-schooler or you are just schooling at home on the side (you know you all put in countless hours helping kids with homework and projects no matter what kind of school they are in),  "Follow" me and then leave me a comment about how you use or would like to use technology in education.  I will pick a random commenter on Wednesday, May 25, to receive a promo code to download the Wonders of Old: Ancient Timeline App from iTunes!

"Celebration Blast" by Sprouting Seeds Studio

I used to be more of a Pastel gal, but lately I just love bright colors and bright kits for everything.  Sprouting Seeds Studio just released "Celebration Blast" over at Scrapdelicious.com, and it is the perfect kit for scrapping my girls' bright birthday pictures.  It has boy colors and pastel colors, too, though.  You can see all the variety in the page LOs the CT did over in the shoppe and the Scrapdelicious Gallery.

And the best part is, this big, versatile kit is a $2 Tasty Treat this week!  Click preview below to pick it up from the Shoppe.

And click the next preview below to pick up your QP from 4shared.  PU only.

Life's Delicious.  Scrap It!  :)

Taco Ring Recipe

I don't post a lot of recipes, since I don't develop many of my own recipes but use other people's.  Well, I guess the same is true of my craft projects; I borrow from other people's creativity A LOT!  I am posting this one, however, because people ask me for it all the time!

A few years ago, Pampered Chef put out a number of "ring" recipes to go along with their baking stones.  (Let me just put a plug in here:  I LOVE my Pampered Chef baking stones!)  We tried several of the recipes, and my favorite was actually the Turkey Cranberry Wreath - yum!  One year for a Super Bowl Party with about 40-50 college students, I made 8 rings, with 5 different recipes.  The Taco Rings vanished.  The Turkey Cranberry Wreaths were eaten, but no one asked for more.  The other rings did not even get half-way eaten, so I have never made any of them since.  Students hung around in my kitchen, waiting in front of the oven for the next Taco Ring to come out.  I didn't even have time to garnish the last ones with the peppers and salsa in the middle.  They just disappeared almost before they'd had time to cool down.  After a while, people in the living room asked if any more Taco Rings were coming out, and I said, no, you have to be hovering around the oven for a chance at those!  Soon I had Midshipmen asking me to make them one before they went out to sea for a few months, and they are so easy that now I make the rings for almost any get-together we attend.  I'm sure it was originally a Pampered Chef recipe, but I've seen a number of variations in different places, and I've made a few tweaks of my own.  So if you want the recipe, here it is.  But if you go to my church or are in my homeschool group, don't make it for any potlucks, because I call dibs!  J

Taco Ring
Recipe InformationServes/Makes: 8
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef or ground turkey (ground turkey is less greasy)
1 - 1.25 oz package taco seasoning mix
1 cup shredded cheese
(I usually use one of the “Mexican Cheese Blends” in the shredded cheese section, or shredded Colby Jack.  Cheddar is also good.)
2 tbsp water
2 - 8 oz. pkgs. refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 med. green bell pepper
1/2 head lettuce, shredded
1 med. tomato, cubed
1 cup salsa
sour cream

Preparation
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Brown meat; drain; and mix in water, seasoning mix, and cheese.
Arrange crescent triangles in a circle on a 13" round baking stone, withbases overlapping in center and points to outside (there should be a five-inch diameter circle in center).Using medium stainless steel scoop (approx. 2 T) spoon meat mixture overrolls.Fold points of triangles over filling and tuck under base at center (fillingwill not be completely covered).Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.Using V-shaped cutter, cut off top of bell pepper.Place bell pepper in center of ring; fill with salsa and a dollop of sour cream on top.Mound lettuce, tomato and more shredded cheese around the pepper.  Cut and serve.  Best served hot but I’ve served it straight from the refrigerator, too.  There are seldom any leftovers no matter how you slice it!  J

A number of "Ring" Recipes, as well as details on how to arrange the rings, wreaths, and braids can be found in the Pampered Chef "All The Best" Cookbook.

Happy iNSD (& a Freebie)!

Happy iNSD!  I am glued to my computer and have been working on challenges for the past two days!!  What fun!

I am really enjoying my iScrap kits from ScrapDelicious, although I have yet to submit anything for a challenge there.  (I've been working on challenges at Stuff to Scrap and Divine Digitals.)  Also at ScrapDelicious, check out the fantastic deals in Sprouting Seeds Studio's Shoppe, where a number of kits are marked 50% off!!!  Sprouting Seeds Studio also has a freebie on the blog today.

In case you are trying to decide which kit to get, let me feature one more from the Shoppe here today.  Splish Splash is obviously a fun kit for bath pictures, but since I've never been big on taking or showing off pics of my kids in the bath (and I won't be showing any of ME in the bath), I think this water-themed kit is a lot of fun for any summer or water  LOs.  My boys definitely needed some towels after it rained on us at Universal Studios!

Repaired Daffodils

I apologize to anyone who had problems with my "Sunny Daffodils" kit in the Stuff to Scrap Blogtrain Sunday.  Daffodil Elements 4, 5, & 10 may have been corrupted.  I was still able to download and use them myself, but when I tried to open the files repeatedly, sometimes they opened and sometimes they did not.  So, I'm not sure what the problem was, but I went back into PSE and re-saved them as new PNGs.  You can scroll down to May 1 and re-download the entire kit, complete with repaired flowers, or you can just pick up those 3 flowers here.  Please let me know if you continue to have any problems with them.  Click each flower to download individually from 4shared.  PU/S4H/S4O.

Thank you!

"Springtime!"

Have you downloaded the "Mom's Day" kit and finished all your cards for this coming weekend?  I hope so!  My daughters are eagerly reminding me that Spring is almost over and it will soon be Summer (which for them means camp, swimming, and no school!)  So before we completely run out of this gorgeous springtime weather and begin sweltering in the hot sun, I'd like to feature Sprouting Seeds Studio's "Springtime" kit.

I love this kit with bright and bold colors for spring.  Although I didn't use it in this LO, I also love the included alpha.  Click preview below to go snag yours at the ScrapDelicious Shoppe!
